The new Shadow® fly rod from Hardy® delivers all the control to the angler along with the perfect balance of power finesse and durability. Slough Creek cutthroat Boundary Waters smallmouth the permit of Turneffe Atoll or any other hard-hitting fish are no match for the Shadow.
Nine models are available from the 8-foot 4-weight for delicate presentations to the windcheating 10-foot 8-weight workhorse.
The key to the Shadow™'s high-quality feel and performance is the advanced mandrel design of the high modulus M40 carbon blank construction. Perfectly fit in four sections with sleeve ferrules the middle-to-tip action is ultra smooth with high recovery in calm and windy conditions or long and short casts. Shadow rods are lightweight for all day action. The 8-foot 4-weight weighs a mere 2.89 ounces while the 10-foot 8-weight weighs just 4.05 ounces.
Other features on the Shadow include high-quality hardware throughout and 4A grade cork on the handles. Depending on the model the rods are finished with reverse half-well handles with a burl wood spacer or full-well handles incorporating an aluminum spacer and an extendedhandle fighting butt to manage bigger fish more comfortably. The translucent olive green rod is protected with a matching rod bag and hard fabric-covered rod tube.
MSRP for the Shadow fly rods starts at $359 with availability in September 2014.
